Kahana Feld is pleased to announce that partners Mimi Ahn, Sofya Uvaydov, and John (Jack) Watkins have recently become shareholders with the firm.
Mimi Ahn is based out of the Irvine, California office and is a partner in Labor & Employment Counseling and Litigation Group. She is an experienced trial attorney who represents employers in a wide range of employment law matters, including PAGA and wage and hour class actions, compliance consultations, pre-litigation investigations, mediations, CCRD and EEOC investigations, Department of Industrial Relations hearings, binding arbitrations, appeals, and trial. In addition to her robust legal practice, Mimi has distinguished herself through leadership and service to her community. A committed volunteer to pro-bono work, Mimi also mentors law students, and currently serves as the immediate past president of the Orange County Korean American Bar Association and is on the boards of the Orange County Korean American Bar Association Foundation and of the Orange County Women’s Lawyer Association.
Sofya Uvaydov is based in the firm’s New York office and is vice chair of the National Appellate Litigation & Consulting Group and a member of the Labor & Employment Group. She has over a decade of experience in industry-shaking litigations such as catastrophic personal injury, coordinated product liability cases, property damage and coverage appeals. As part of the Firm’s National Appellate Group, Sofya frequently advises on cases and appeals throughout the country, including New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Texas, California, and Ohio. Sofya has published numerous articles in the New York Law Journal and moderated panels on appellate practice for the New York City Bar Association.
John (Jack) is vice chair of the firm’s National Appellate Litigation & Consulting Group. He works primarily on cases involving catastrophic personal injury or property damages, handling appeals involving the Labor Law, trucking and other complex motor vehicle accidents, and product liability, while also delving into professional liability, coverage issues, and business tort. Jack has had a direct hand in several high-profile cases in New York state, including Perez v. LiveNation Worldwide, Hedges v. East River Plaza LLC, and Yao v. World Wide Travel of Greater New York, as well as multiple out-of-state cases, most notably Matthews v. Sunbelt Industries, Inc. (in Ohio’s Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas) in which he, Sofya Uvaydov, and other members of the firm obtained summary judgment on punitive damages claims in a catastrophic trucking accident involving an intoxicated driver.
