2025 New York Metro Super Lawyers 

Tim Capowski was awarded for his work in Appellate Law. Capowski is a partner at Kahana Feld and chair of the firm’s National Appellate Litigation & Consulting Group. He has spent the better part of three decades at the forefront of the insurance defense bar. He has litigated hundreds of appeals and thousands of motions in state and federal and appellate courts throughout New York and around the country. He handles a variety of complex litigation including catastrophic property and casualty claims, construction defect, professional liability, labor and employment law, mass torts, insurance coverage, and more.   

2025 New York Metro Rising Stars 

Sean Harriton was recognized in the area of Appellate Law. Harriton is a partner with the firm’s New York City office and is opening up the Florida appellate market for the firm. He has significant experience conceptualizing and drafting appellate briefs and dispositive and other motions on catastrophic property and casualty matters of all kinds. Harriton has served as appellate monitoring counsel on high-stakes trials in federal and state courts throughout the county and is collaborating on the highly-regarded Florida Fraudemic Alert for the benefit of all clients and counsel in Florida and nationwide. 

Rachael Marvin was recognized in the area of Civil Litigation – Defense. As a senior attorney in the firm’s New York City and New Jersey offices, Marvin is experienced in handling a wide range of civil litigation practice areas, including New York labor law, construction defect, premises liability, commercial litigation, medical malpractice, and product liability. She has represented hospitals, nursing homes, physicians, and other health care professionals from high-exposure malpractice and negligence claims and regularly defends building owners, general contractors, and subcontractors in complex labor law and construction defect matters. Marvin is experienced in handling cases from inception through trial and has argued in New York’s Appellate Division.  

Sarah Pavlini was recognized in the area of Appellate Law. Pavlini is an attorney in the firm’s New York City office. She has argued before the Appellate Division and served as appellate monitoring counsel in major trials across New Jersey and the New York metropolitan area. She is skilled in developing strategy and drafting dispositive motions and appellate briefs in catastrophic property and casualty matters of all types. 

Mariah Smith was recognized in the area of Construction Litigation. Smith is an attorney in the New York City office, and her practice focuses on New York labor law, general liability, and premises liability matters. She also has experience defending numerous general liability and construction/labor law cases for building owners, general contractors, subcontractors, and construction managers. 

Christopher Theobalt was recognized for his work in Appellate Law. Theobalt is a partner in Kahana Feld’s New York office and leverages his appellate experience at every stage of litigation, from trial monitoring to post-trial motions and appeals. Throughout his career, he has handled high-stakes New York trials and appeals, drafting and arguing matters that have saved clients hundreds of millions of dollars. 

Sofya Uvaydov was recognized in the area of Appellate Law. Uvaydov is a partner in the firm’s New York office and is vice chair of the National Appellate Litigation & Consulting Group. She has substantial experience as appellate and litigation strategy counsel, handling all aspects of litigation, from initial answer through appeals in both state and federal courts.
