Profile

Mark Heftler is senior counsel in Kahana Feld’s New York City office and is a member of the National Appellate Litigation & Consulting group. Mark has more than 10 years of experience representing insurers, public entities, and private clients in complex litigation, arbitration, and appellate matters. He has managed cases through every stage of the litigation process, from initial case assessment through trial, arbitration, and appellate resolution. He has appeared before the New Jersey Appellate Division and has argued appeals before the Disciplinary Review Board, bringing extensive experience in legal research, persuasive writing, and oral advocacy. 

Prior to joining Kahana Feld, Mark managed a statewide arbitration program, overseeing the panel’s appellate work product to ensure statutory, regulatory, and procedural compliance. He was appointed to the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Appellate Practice Committee and proudly serves on the District XB Ethics Committee in connection with the New Jersey Office of Attorney Ethics, where he helps uphold the integrity of the legal profession by investigating, prosecuting, and adjudicating allegations of attorney misconduct.

Outside of his practice, Mark supports future attorneys through his annual involvement with the New Jersey State Bar Foundation’s statewide high school mock trial competition and returns to Seton Hall University School of Law each semester to judge Appellate Advocacy final arguments.

Although he was among the first cohort to earn the IAPP’s Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional certification, Mark still prefers to do his thinking on paper – with his ever-growing collection of fountain pens close at hand.
