Michael J. Curtis is a Partner in Kahana Feld’s New York office. Michael began his legal career in the Queens County District Attorney’s Office. There, he served in the Homicide Investigations Bureau, where he conducted investigations into all manners of death including homicides, automobile collisions, pedestrian strikes, fire-related deaths, police shootings, and the like. Michael later worked in the Appeals Bureau where he responded to post-trial motions and appeals from a variety of violent felony convictions, including various levels of criminal homicide. He regularly briefed cases in the Appellate Division, Second Department, where he has appeared and argued on numerous occasions.
After leaving the District Attorney’s Office, he served as Principal Court Attorney for the Honorable Ushir Pandit-Durant, Justice of the Supreme Court, Queens County, Criminal Term.
Michael has significant experience serving as appellate monitoring counsel on major trials, and has experience conceptualizing and drafting appellate briefs and dispositive and other motions on significant and catastrophic property and casualty matters of all kinds.
