Kahana Feld Obtains Summary Judgment in Texas DTPA Vehicle Fire Case 

Kahana Feld partner Laurence Granite secured summary judgment on behalf of his client in a Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act (DTPA) action involving allegations that aftermarket vehicle modifications caused a vehicle used for street racing to catch fire. 

Kahana Feld successfully argued that the plaintiff failed to establish causation, relying solely on the timing of the incident without presenting expert testimony or other admissible evidence linking the modifications to the fire. The court agreed with the Kahana Feld defense and granted summary judgment, dismissing the case in its entirety. The judgment became final after the plaintiff’s deadline to appeal expired.
