Rick Chavez, Esq.
Partner
Rick Chavez is a Partner at Kahana Feld’s Rio Grande Valley office. Rick has extensive courtroom experience having tried dozens of jury trials throughout South Texas. He has broad experience in civil litigation having successfully defended cases in matters involving personal and commercial auto, catastrophic personal injuries, complex construction defect litigation, wrongful death, and premises liability.
Rick is a native of the Rio Grande Valley, born and raised in Mercedes, Texas. After graduating from Baylor Law School with a specialization in General Civil Litigation, he returned to his roots and began his legal career. Prior to his partnership at Kahana Feld, Rick served as Chief Managing Counsel for a National Insurance Company overseeing more than 80 attorneys and 200 staff members in Texas, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Alabama, Georgia, Colorado, Illinois, and Arizona.
He has previously served as the Chairman of the Civil Trial Law Section of the Hidalgo County Bar Association and was on the Board of Directors for the Economic Development Corporation of the City of Mercedes. Rick has served as a frequent mentor and judge for the local Region One High School Mock Trial Competition.
